The Angry Vegan And Earthling Ed!

I've realised something.....

I'm turning into the stereotypical vegan! The one that can be aggressive and angry! And that's not the type of person I am.
As I have said before, it wasn't a vegan that convinced me to become Vegan. It was the animals and their suffering that did it. In my experience via Facebook there are vegans who fall into the criteria of "The Angry Vegan".
Now I must be careful here as I don't wish to tar all vegans as being the same. Much like anything in life there are always the litral extremists. The ones who'll say there is only one way and nothing else counts! When that is clearly wrong!
On Facebook I started my own Veggie Friends group because I got angry at some vegans who got nasty at anyone who wasn't vegan! Who became abusive and vile and labelled everyone murderers. Now I was vegetarian at the time and what effect did these comments haven on me? They made me angry at vegans and I walked away!
In an ideal world I would love everyone to be vegan. But that isnt going to happen anytime soon and being vile and aggressive towards non vegans will not win us any favours. All it does is push non vegans away and put all vegans in a bad light and ultimately it does the same for our cause. It is the animals who should speak for us through us! Let us literally be their voice! Don't be the "Angry Vegan" be the one who gently nudges people into seeing the plight of the animals. Say "do you think there is a humane way to kill anyone?" "Do you love animals?" "What is the difference between a dog and a pig? Are they not both living creatures with a face and a heart?"

Take a leaf from Earthling Ed, who I consider to be the generalist of souls. He is never aggressive. He speaks softly to people, regardless to how silly their comments maybe. He NEVER forgets that he was once a meat eater too! He often gently persuades people into understanding why we as vegans do this for animals, through thoughtful and logical questions. He gets them to answer, without realising straight away, in a way that is logical and persuasive as to why we shouldn't eat or harm animals or our planet. Many have walked away pledging to become Vegan. And when they still don't see the light, Ed doesn't become angry or aggressive. He knows he's planted the seed of doubt!
So let's stop being angry. We want people on our side and remember that yes someone may not become Vegan. But they may start by reducing their weekly intake of meat and dairy. Even that can make a huge difference! Every bit counts and for every person that reduces by half their normal weekly intake is another nail in the meat, egg and dairy industries coffin!
Have a beautiful day!
