So Why Are You Vegan Again?

For days like this! Every day getting up and having my breakfast knowing that what I am consuming, using on my body (love my Original Source shower cream) has not harmed or killed an animal! It's as simple as that.

I have been meatless longer than I have not been, a lot longer and now I'm Vegan too! Like meat eaters with vegetarians I was sceptical as to the reasons for being vegan! I didn't understand it and because I didn't understand it I didn't see the point! And it wasn't any vegan telling me I should go vegan that pushed me into making the change. It was the animals themselves and the cruelty they went through everyday!

After reminding myself as to why I was vegetarian I wanted to take it further. I needed to understand why people would go vegan. Did I think I'd go vegan at the end of it? No I really didn't. If you had told me I'd go vegan in a year I'd have said not a chance!

I started simple. I started with the bees and that so often asked question "why do vegans not eat honey?" After much reading and research their reasons made complete sense. I never realised bees were harmed or used in such a cruel way. After all bees seem to have freedom. But it's not down to the fact they can fly off as and when they pretty much choose. It's their hive existence and the stealing of their honey and oh so much more. If you're reading this and you eat honey, look it up. You'll be shocked!

Now the next part of my research didn't effect me quite the same as I've been lactose intolerant since I was about 16 or 17. Around the same time I went vegetarian! But I've always managed some goats cheese and butter. I decided to look anyway. Shock and anger and tears followed that. Then I looked at eggs. More tears and anger. Then the final part for me. The one I thought was safe. I mean goats are organic and live in fields and are loved right? No. No The are not.

The one commonality between dairy, eggs and goats was one thing. Males! Males are seen as a by-products. They cant produce milk, nor lay eggs. And it doesn't matter how well the farmers care for their cow's, chickens or goats, they can't keep the males. So they go for slaughter. Male chicks don't even reach the farm as they are separated from the female chicks after hatching. Tossed onto a conveyer belt and ground up alive for protein (I wonder what the protein is used for? Animal feed or human consumption?)

I cried on and off two days! I became vegan there and then. No gradual transitioning period. For me it was easy. I was already vegetarian and semi vegan as I'd already reduced considerably the amount of dairy (cheese and butter) I was having due to too many lactose attacks. And I wasn't the biggest fan of eggs. So going vegan was just like stepping into the next room. Easy!

For me knowing that no animal is hurt in my name. That when I purchase food etc I am not paying someone to kill or torture another life, gives me peace in myself. Not that I rest on my laurels. Goodness no!

Every day I try and spread my enlightenment. I want people to discover as I did the truth! I don't feel being an aggressive vegan helps the cause. That kind of attack never worked on me. It just made me think even more so that being a vegan was rediculous. Maybe thats why a

I am a fan of Earthling Ed. He doesnt push or get aggressive. He gently nudges people in the right direction. Allows them to make the choice with out bullying and aggressive tactics and I feel that's how we need to do this. Bullying and calling people murders will only make them anti-vegan.

Anyway that's enough waffle from me. My breakfast is cold as will my peppermint tea!

Thank you for reading and have a beautiful days friends!

Namaste 💜
